The 'PacVes Areas' layer is used for vessel position identification for commercial fishing vessels in the Pacific Ocean including the U.S. West Coast, Alaska, and Hawaii. All locations are identified as being in one of three 'areas': land, ocean, and port. Port areas are subdivided into port dock areas, port areas or bays, and inshore floating processor areas (Alaska only). <\/span><\/p> Data are based on extensive review of fishing vessel location datasets, including VMS, AIS, and other high-frequency position datasets used in fishing management and enforcement. <\/span><\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div>",
